The Lafayette County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Lewisville, Arkansas. Operated locally by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Arkansas. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
Inmates at Lafayette County Jail have the opportunity to participate in programs, including education, counseling, substance abuse, and religious services. They are given three meals a day and are allowed to purchase snacks from the commissary. They are given an hour of recreational time each day where they are encouraged to go outside.
