The Lee County Jail has been around for over 100 years. The Lee County Jail is in Ft. Meyers, Florida.
On July 1, 2009, the original Lee County Jail closed its doors for the last time. This original Lee County Jail was in use for over 100 years. Throughout those 100 years, the Lee County Jail was in constant operation.
It took nearly 8 months for the Newton County to officially pass a bond issue that would allow the Lee County the money and design elements to officially start constructing a bigger and better Lee County Jail.
The bigger and better Lee County Jail was fully done and operational in August 2014.
