The Mitchell County Correctional Institute is a medium-security detention center located in Camilla, Georgia. Operated locally by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Georgia. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
