The Cook County Jail – Division X is a medium-security detention center located in Chicago, Illinois. Operated locally by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Cook County Sheriff’s Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Illinois. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
Inmates at Cook County Jail – Division X have the opportunity to participate in programs, including education, counseling, substance abuse, and religious services. They are given three meals a day and are allowed to purchase snacks from the commissary. They are given an hour of recreational time each day where they are encouraged to go outside.

Cook County Jail - Division X requires all visitors to fill out an application prior to visitation.
