Only letters, money orders and approved photos will be given to inmates. Books may be sent to inmate but they must be sent directly from a distributor. Only soft back books are accepted.
All mail will be inspected by jail staff. Mail that contains any material relating to violence or nudity will be discarded.
All mail sent to an inmate at the Cook County Jail - Juvenile Detention Center must include the sender's name and mailing address in the top left corner of the envelope or postcard. If there is no return address, the mail will be discarded.

Cook County Jail - Juvenile Detention Center has contracted with CenturyLink to provide calling and account billing services to inmates. Called parties can establish and fund prepaid calling accounts by phone or internet.
Phone time is every day between 7:00 AM and 7:30 PM. Each call is a maximum of 30 minutes.
Visitation Rules
Cook County Jail - Juvenile Detention Center visits are all scheduled by Visitel, an outside company that facilitates visits. All visits are by video monitors that are located in the public onsite visiting area of the jail and in each housing unit.
Visitors will need to set up an account with Visitel in order to schedule a visit or by coming into the jail visiting area and using the Visitel kiosk in the Cook County Jail - Juvenile Detention Center lobby.
Visitors will need a state issued driver’s license or ID to complete the registration. Once a visitor is registered, they can schedule a visit with an inmate by following the prompts on the website. All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance of the visit.
The Cook County Jail - Juvenile Detention Center requires visitors to dress modestly, for both jail and online visits. Short shorts, mini-skirts, low cut blouses or low cut or sagging pants, bare midriffs, tube tops, spaghetti straps, etc. are not allowed.
Visiting hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
