The Grant County Jail has been around for over 100 years. The Grant County Jail is in Ulysses, Kansas.
On July 1, 2009, the original Grant County Jail closed its doors for the last time. This original Grant County Jail was in use for over 100 years. Throughout those 100 years, the Grant County Jail was in constant operation.
It took nearly 8 months for the Newton County to officially pass a bond issue that would allow the Grant County the money and design elements to officially start constructing a bigger and better Grant County Jail.
The bigger and better Grant County Jail was fully done and operational in August 2014.
