The Trego County Youth Center is a medium-security detention center located in Wakeeney, Kansas. Operated locally by the Trego County Sheriff’s Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Trego County Sheriff’s Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Kansas. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.

They are given three meals a day and are allowed to purchase snacks from the commissary. They are given an hour of recreational time each day where they are encouraged to go outside.

Visitation Rules
Trego County Youth Center requires all visitors to fill out an application prior to visitation. If you want to visit an inmate at Trego County Youth Center, carefully fill out the application. Jail visits are conducted in person behind plexiglass or on a televised screen from another location. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and guardians must provide proof of their guardianship. Inmates may have two visitors during each visit.
