Unlike some of the other facilities in the United States, the Chesapeake Detention Facility does not only just allow inmates to send and receive written letters, but inmates can also send and receive emails as well through JPay.
You will need to keep in mind if you opt-in for sending and receiving emails, it is NOT free, and it will cost the inmate money as well.

Sending Money
The Chesapeake Detention Facility allows family and friends to send money to inmates in their facilities by one of four different ways.
The most popular way that friends and family members send inmates funds is using JPay. You can use JPay over the phone, online, or in person. It’s the fastest and easiest way to send inmates money while they are in the Chesapeake Detention Facility.
You can also take advantage of using Western Union and GTL as well.
Phone Calls
When an inmate is kept in the Chesapeake Detention Facility, they are permitted to make phone calls home. The Chesapeake Detention Facility contracts with GTL for their phone service.
You can put money directly on their phone account through GTL if you would like. The inmate is responsible to have funds on their account to be able to call home.

Visitation Rules

To schedule a visitor appointment, you will need to contact the following number 410-539-5445 during Monday through Wednesday between the hours of 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Visitation will be held on Thursdays between the following time frames:

If the inmate you are looking for is currently housed in the Close Custody Transition Unit in the Chesapeake Detention Facility, they will have to have no infractions to receive four contact visits every calendar month.
All visits for inmates can last up to 90 minutes.
