Most city jails do not have a lot of room or cells for that matter. They run at a much smaller occupancy than county, state, and federal prisons.

This means the turnaround for offenders being in the Reading Police Department is exceptionally fast.

If you are looking for an offender that you believe is currently inside the Reading City Jail, you will need to contact the facility by phone to get the information you are looking for.

As previously stated, inmates are not in the Reading City Jail for that long of a period. Offenders will not be permitted to receive letters while they are in the facility. All mail should be held off until they either get released from the facility or they get transferred to their home prison.

As we have previously stated, inmates who are brought to the Reading City Jail are not expected to be in the facility for long. This in result will mean inmates will not need any funds sent to them to be used while they are in the facility.

The Reading City Jail will provide all necessary items to the inmate while they are being kept in the jail. There is no commissary in the Reading City Jail for inmates to purchase items from, so they will not need any money while they are here.

You are not permitted to call inmates while they are in the Reading City Jail. But inmates can call you from the facility.

Inmates will only be permitted to call you collect. If you only have a mobile phone, you will not receive the call, unfortunately. If you have a landline phone, you will receive the collect call. You will also need to keep in mind that you are responsible for all fees incurred when answering the inmates call.

While an offender is being held in the Reading City Jail, you can indeed visit them. Visiting hours are daily. You can visit an inmate between Monday to Friday from 8 am to 9 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 3 pm.

Make sure you have your driver’s license and you live all your personal belongings in your car before you come in for visitation.
