Opened since 1984, Anoka County MI Workhouse is a medium-security detention center located in Anoka, Minnesota. This facility was originally designed to house a total of 240 inmates, but by 2004, the Anoka County MI Workhouse experienced over a 240% increase in the average daily population for the facility and needed to expand.
Currently, 40 Corrections Deputies, 5 Corrections Sergeants, and 1 Lieutenant are responsible for providing safe and secure housing for inmates being held in the custody of the Anoka County MI Workhouse.
Anoka County MI Workhouse offers a Jail Alternatives Program which offers alternative programs to qualifying inmates. Such alternatives include Work Release, Community Service, and Electronic Home Monitoring.

Visitation occurs via video from the visitor’s home/device or in the lobby of the Anoka County Community Justice Center which is located at 3300 4th Avenue, Anoka, MN, 55303. Inmates are usually allowed one 40-minute visits per week. Each inmate may have two visitors at a time.
