The Monroe County Detention Facility is a medium-security detention center located in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Operated locally by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Mississippi. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
