The Essex County Jail Annex is a medium-security prison that is located in Caldwell, New Jersey. It is specifically operated by the Montgomery Sheriff’s Office but also does accept prisoners from surrounding towns and municipalities.
The Essex County Jail Annex also has a law library which inmates can access Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 AM and 3 PM. Inmates have a “first come, first serve” basis when it comes to the library.

How to Find Someone in Essex County Jail Annex

There MUST be the inmate’s name, ID number, and a return address on the envelope. Inmates must also request to have an armband issued by classification in order to receive mail. This armband is not required to receive legal mail, however.

The last name of the inmate determines their visitation days. It breaks down as follows. If an inmate’s last name starts with the following letters, they have specific days/hours for visitation. If your last name starts with a letter A through M, your visitation days are Saturdays, from 8 AM to 11 AM, and Sundays, from 2 PM to 5 PM.
