Hicks has over 15 years of legal and public policy experience. Hicks is the one who oversees the annual $1 billion operating budget and is responsible for ensuring his 8,000 employees are up to date on ALL mandated training and procedures. But that is not all Hicks also oversees another 20,000 offenders in his thirteen correctional facilities, community halfway houses, and county jails.
Hicks received the job as commissioner back in 2007. Hicks's main goal is to ensure that every offender that walks through their doors succeeds at life. Hicks has implemented numerous programs and training for both the offenders and the employees to ensure that the reoffender rate is as low as possible.
