The Monroe County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located in Rochester, New York. Operated locally by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in New York. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.

Visitation Rules
Monroe County Detention Center requires all visitors to fill out an application prior to visitation. Jail visits are conducted in person behind plexiglass or on a televised screen from another location. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and guardians must provide proof of their guardianship. Inmates may have two visitors during each visit.
