The MDC Brooklyn for short is federal prison in New York. The MDC Brooklyn is managed and operated under the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
In New York, the MDC Brooklyn was the first federal women’s prison. Alongside the main campus here at the MDC Brooklyn there is also a satellite prison camp that will house minimum-security inmates as well.

Send a Mail/Package
When an inmate is in the MDC Brooklyn they encourage the families and friends of the inmate to send them letters and care packages. Letters and care packages for inmates are a great morale booster.
There are two different types of mail that will come into the MDC Brooklyn. The first type being general correspondence. General correspondence mail is typical mail you will send to the facility. This mail will be opened and inspected prior to be given to the inmate.
The next type of mail is special mail, which will be opened and inspected in front of the inmate and then given to them.

Phone Calls
While inmates are in the MDC Brooklyn they can also make phone calls home to their family and friends. Inmates in the facility will be allotted 300 minutes from January to October. In November and December will have an extra 100 minutes added for a grand total of 400 minutes.
Inmates will be responsible for paying for their phone. If you would like to help the inmate for their phone service, you will need to use the following methods of sending the inmate money for their account.
Visitation Rules
Inmates can also receive visitors as well. Visitation will be by approval only. If you are not on the visitor approved the list, you will need to fill out this following form. Once filled out, you can mail it to the address listed and wait to be approved.
Visitation is held on Saturdays, Sundays, along with federal holidays from 8 am to 3 pm.
