The Mecklenburg County Jail Annex is a medium-security detention center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Operated locally by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in North Carolina. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.

They are given three meals a day and are allowed to purchase snacks from the commissary. They are given an hour of recreational time each day where they are encouraged to go outside.
