The Pawnee County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Pawnee, Oklahoma. Operated locally by the Pawnee County Sheriff's Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Pawnee County Sheriff's Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Oklahoma. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
Inmates at Pawnee County Jail have the opportunity to participate in programs, including education, counseling, substance abuse, and religious services. They are given three meals a day and are allowed to purchase snacks from the commissary. They are given an hour of recreational time each day where they are encouraged to go outside.
