The Wheeler County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Fossil, Oregon. Operated locally by the Wheeler County Sheriff's Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Wheeler County Sheriff's Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Oregon. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
