Opened since 1984, Perry County Prison is a medium-security detention center located in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania. This facility was originally designed to house a total of 125 inmates, but by 2004, the Perry County Prison experienced over a 240% increase in the average daily population for the facility and needed to expand.
Currently, 40 Corrections Deputies, 5 Corrections Sergeants, and 1 Lieutenant are responsible for providing safe and secure housing for inmates being held in the custody of the Perry County Prison.
Perry County Prison offers a Jail Alternatives Program which offers alternative programs to qualifying inmates. Such alternatives include Work Release, Community Service, and Electronic Home Monitoring.

Send a Mail/Package
Inmates at Perry County Prison may receive only metered, unstamped, plain white postcards no larger than 4" x 6" as mail. Writing must be in pencil or blue or black ink. Any other mail will be returned to the sender.
If no return address is available, unauthorized mail will be stored in the inmate's locker until the inmate's release.

Magazines and books may be sent to an inmate if they are directly from the publisher. Inmates are not allowed to be mailed packages, although family and friends can order them items and goods through iCare.
Sending Money
The Perry County Prison accepts money for inmates 24 hours a day via the kiosk in the jail lobby. The kiosk accepts cash and credit/debit cards. Money orders will be accepted through the mail. All money orders must be made out to "Perry County Prison". Money can also be sent to the inmate’s account online using JPay services.
The Perry County Prison does not accept personal checks for inmates.

Visitation Rules
Visitation occurs via video from the visitor’s home/device or in the lobby of the Perry County Community Justice Center which is located at 300 South Carlisle Street
PO Box 520, New Bloomfield, PA, 17068. Inmates are usually allowed one 40-minute visits per week. Each inmate may have two visitors at a time.
