In 2007, the facility went under a big expansion that went from being able to hold up to 585 inmates at once to what they can house now. This was due to the need for meeting city life.
The Hyde County Jail employs over 150 staff members.
The Hyde County Jail comes equipped with an operational infirmary that has two part-time nurses, three full-time nurses, and a part-time doctor.
The Hyde County Jail also has a fully operational kitchen where all meals are prepared daily.
