Opened since 1984, Moore County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Lynchburg, Tennessee. This facility was originally designed to house a total of 20 inmates, but by 2004, the Moore County Jail experienced over a 240% increase in the average daily population for the facility and needed to expand.
Currently, 40 Corrections Deputies, 5 Corrections Sergeants, and 1 Lieutenant are responsible for providing safe and secure housing for inmates being held in the custody of the Moore County Jail.
Moore County Jail offers a Jail Alternatives Program which offers alternative programs to qualifying inmates. Such alternatives include Work Release, Community Service, and Electronic Home Monitoring.

Send a Mail/Package
Inmates at Moore County Jail may receive only metered, unstamped, plain white postcards no larger than 4" x 6" as mail. Writing must be in pencil or blue or black ink. Any other mail will be returned to the sender.
If no return address is available, unauthorized mail will be stored in the inmate's locker until the inmate's release.

Magazines and books may be sent to an inmate if they are directly from the publisher. Inmates are not allowed to be mailed packages, although family and friends can order them items and goods through iCare.
Sending Money
The Moore County Jail accepts money for inmates 24 hours a day via the kiosk in the jail lobby. The kiosk accepts cash and credit/debit cards. Money orders will be accepted through the mail. All money orders must be made out to "Moore County Jail". Money can also be sent to the inmate’s account online using JPay services.
The Moore County Jail does not accept personal checks for inmates.

Visitation Rules
Visitation occurs via video from the visitor’s home/device or in the lobby of the Moore County Community Justice Center which is located at 58 South Elm Street
Route 3 - Box 244, Lynchburg, TN, 37352. Inmates are usually allowed one 40-minute visits per week. Each inmate may have two visitors at a time.
