The Wilbarger County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Vernon, Texas. Operated locally by the Wilbarger County Sheriff’s Office, this jail holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing. The Wilbarger County Sheriff’s Department has the largest number of law enforcement officers in the county and is the largest facility in Texas. The current Sheriff was sworn in as Sheriff in September 2009.
