About Wisconsin Department of Corrections

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections not only wants to provide public safety, but they also care about their employees along with their offenders.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections was established in 1851. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections throughout the years focused heavily on ensuring they had enough facilities throughout the state for all offenders to have a bed.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections eventually moved their focus on ensuring that all facilities and all communities within the state were safe.

All correctional officers that work in one of the many state prisons are heavily trained to protect themselves, their co-workers, and the inmates, if needed.

All state prisons are equipped with treatment programs, educational programs, and reintegration programs. These programs are deemed a success for inmates who involve themselves within them as it makes it an easier transition for them when they get released out of the facility.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections also oversees the parole and probation programs too.
